The Museum of Salt
is housed in an old salt windmill located on the provincial Road 21 linking Trapani and Marsala in Nubia.
The museum will show visitors the way salt used to be extracted. A guide will inform museum goers about the medical and gastronomic benefits of salt.
Salt is at present extracted by mechanical means, yet there are handmade ways of extracting it which provide with expensive high quality salt.
Salt-pans stretch from Trapani to Marsala and there is a road named “Road of Salt” escorted by a row of salt mills long ago referred to by Cervantes.
